Vascular Disease
Vascular disease occurs in your arteries, veins, and lymph vessels causing an interruption in circulation. Most commonly it is a result of atherosclerosis or plaque build-up within the vessel or from weakened and bulging areas of the vessel known as aneurysms. Common factors that put you at risk for vascular disease include: smoking, family history, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, sedentary lifestyle, and diabetes. There are multiple types of vascular disease including: peripheral artery disease (PAD) which includes extremities, carotid, renal and mesenteric artery disease; and venous disease which includes varicose veins, spider veins, and chronic venous insufficiency. Raynaud’s disease, Buerger’s disease, and aneurysms are other common vascular disorders. These conditions can cause anything from unsightly and painful veins to life threatening concerns. Fortunately Dr. Nye, a board certified vascular surgeon and phlebologist and one of Phoenix’s top vascular doctors, is helping people all over the valley with the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease.
